The unit is current technology at its finest. It is at a thin 0.9 inches and thickest at 35.1mm. The carrying poundage is a light 5.72 lbs making it easy to carry and handle. This fifteen-inch machine has become as popular as its smaller predecessor, the Dell XPS M1330, which was considered as one of the best units ever created. Its makers, Dell has definitely improved the strengths of the smaller unit into a bigger capacity resulting in the XPS M1530. It tried improving on what is an already good set up in the latter mobile computer. The changes are improvements though the same drawbacks of the elder still remain.
The XPS M1530 is the sexiest 15-inch notebook over the past few years, as popular as its elder, yet smaller, brother Dell XPS M1330. The previous model (XPS M1330) was just amazing that it was considered as one of the best laptops ever produced in the history of mankind. But Dell, making consideration of its size thinking that a larger version might be superior, made XPS M1530 but with a few changes.
The keys of the board are top of the line, with firm handling and great cushions. There is a click heard at typing and the scroll areas are easily navigable. The later laptop also has a much more powerful graphics card, the NVidia 8600M GT. This provides greater imaging output compared to its smaller predecessor. This unit also has a 2.80GHz Intel T7800 processor with a GDDR3 RAM in use for its functionalities.
But who has the better touch? Well, the two XPS models have similar keyboard format. The keypad is firm and is soft for the fingers. However, it produces clicking sounds but comfort is still overrates the noise. Its scroll areas are reactive as well.
Its hard drive is a 320GB configured at a single 5400-RPM SATAII unit. It also has a Solid State Drive at 128GB. Its outer shell can come in a plethora of color options with additional options of Bluetooth 2.0 and USB External TV Tuner Card. It has flexible multimedia capability using a Dell Media Direct 3.3 operated by media buttons. The unit also boasts of an Integrated 2.0 mega pixel camera with slot loading DVD+/-RW, Blu-Ray Disc capacity.
When it comes to audio performance, we can have it rated as average because of the absence of a subwoofer. And they are exactly the same with XPS M1330. The speaker is located at the top of the keyboard. Other than music and sound effects, the natural scream of slot-loading optical drive is clearly audible. And this issue always involves the hard drive. Its quite a big off really.
All in all, the Dell XPS M1530 is above average. Its drawbacks are the noisy hard drive and limited screen outputs can be hard to justify for its $ 1089 price tag. It is sexy and slim, but its output is still the same as its earlier version.
