The Problem With Typical Staffing Versus Virtual Staffing can be addressed in many ways. The enormous monies spent on Space for traditional office workers can be an absorbent amount of money. From the initial arrangement of floor space to the who will sit where issues. The installation of phones and computers which require Licenses and technical support staff. This would be considered Step One of many phases to setting up a physical location.
The Benefits of a home bound worker is if this individual is sick, the germs are contained to their home office and the work still gets done. Whereas a dedicated employee will attempt to come into work and try to muddle through the days and maybe get some work done. During this time the sickness will have spread causing multiple co-workers to call in sick and work production would have been delayed.
Constant interruptions would not be an issue with the virtual employee as this is the normal and time management would come into play. The office employee would normally take a few minutes to maintain a relationship with other co-workers to discuss how the weekend went and catch up on the latest of family and friends issues. This would lead into longer than normal coffee breaks and lunch breaks.
Between the expenses of Office Supplies, Xerox and Fax Machines these items would no longer be of concern. A huge savings on Office Furniture and the need for Security would also be eliminated. Hiring a Janitorial Service would also be a thing of the past.
Sick Leave for the physical office workers is a common abused issue. The employee does not have many other choices when it comes to taking time off whether it be due to illness or if a family member needs assistance. This would not come into play for the virtual staff as this has already been written into the overall plan.
Virtual Staff are very content with their way of earning a living. They have flexibilities that the traditional office worker does not have. The stress level is much more lower due to the fact that they have the ability to work their own schedules and tend to work matters and balance off personal issues at the same time. The pride of accomplishment is very high in this arena.
Productivity goes up as there is more time to attend to work matters on a timely basis. There are no commute times or reasons for arriving late. Work flow is a constant and frequently at a much higher rate. Studies have shown that a telecommuter works longer hours than a office bound worker.
Money matters are still of concern but not like The problem with Typical Staffing versus Virtual Staffing. Many of the traditional workers would give up their raise to become a telecommuter. The advantages of becoming a home bound worker is endless. The comforts of being at home and no more commuter hours. Whereas the office worker has to deal with the traffic and get up extra early to put on the proper attire for the office.
