Autumn Internationals is a yearly event and it is also one of the most popular tournament in the history of rugby. If you have not attended Autumn Internationals before then here’s your chance to be among the audience. The Autumn rugby fixtures are now firmly established in the calendar for all the Home Nations, playing against the best of the Southern Hemisphere. Wales V South Africa match is going to be held in Millennium Stadium at Saturday November 13, 2010.
Wales play in red jerseys embroidered with the Prince of Wales’s feathers. Their current home ground is the Millennium Stadium, completed in 1999 to replace the National Stadium at Cardiff Arms Park. Ten former Welsh players have been inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame, and two of the ten have been inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame.
The Wales national rugby union team represent Wales in international rugby union tournaments. They compete annually in the Six Nations Championship with England, France, Ireland, Italy and Scotland. Wales have won the Six Nations and its predecessors 24 times outright, second only to England with 25 wins. Wales most recent championship win came in 2008. They also compete in the Rugby World Cup every four years. The International Rugby Board (IRB) regards Wales as a Tier One rugby nation, and ranks them eighth in the world as of 1 February 2010.
The Springboks play in green and gold jerseys, and their emblems are the Springbok and the Protea. The side have been playing international rugby since 1891, when a British Isles side toured the nation, playing South Africa in their first Test on 30 July. South Africa is currently coached by Peter de Villiers, after Jake White, who led the Boks to the 2007 World Cup title, announced his resignation effective at the end of 2007. The current captain is John Smit, who was returned to his traditional position of hooker effective with the Boks’ last 2009 Test against Ireland after having been moved to tighthead prop for the 2008 end of year tests, and spending the next 12 months in that position.
